Clematis

In our garden we have a dead Column Cherry Tree still standing... it died a couple of years ago and instead of cutting it all the way down we just trimmed the top down and planted a beautiful deep purple coloured Clematis at the root of the tree. Every spring the Clematis now brings life to the dead tree and generously spreads it's leaves and flowers all the way to the top. Today the first Clematis flowers have opened fully, so naturally they were my prime photo target of the day… The flowers are of a rich velvety deep purple colour and they look amazing - but I ended up choosing this almost fully black and white version because I think it brings out the shape of the center of the flower much better than the coloured version.

Gear used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 + Lensbaby Velvet 56 f1.6/56mm.
So abstract! Fascinating.
