What lurks in the darkness...

Today's photo is inspired by a very interesting talk I had with a colleague a few days back regarding fear... He had watched a TV program with some wild boar piglets. They had found a snake resting in the grass, and even though it was obviously dangerous for them to approach the snake, they kept testing their own fear regarding how close they dared to get to the snake. Watching this program made him realize that testing our fears is important for all living creatures - including humans - regarding building a confidence and learning how to handle our fears. And I think he's totally right... so I've decided to challenge my own fear of the darkness and the (supernatural) entities that might be lurking there... it's not a huge fear, but I've had it eversince I was a child and it's probably just a result of an overactive imagination... As I've grown into an adult I've learned to manage it, and I know, that there are no evil entities lurking there and reaching out for me when I turn my back on them... but... there's still a tiny bit of residue left there in the back of my mind sticking its head out when I'm walking alone in the dark...

Gear used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 + Olympus M.Zuiko f3.5-6.3/12-50mm.
I love the creative processing to highlight the fear of the dark, or fears in general. Really well done.
