Meet Dora

This is the third year in a row that a pigeon couple (we are calling them Dora and Børge) are building a nest at almost the exact same spot in our old beech tree. The tree stands close to one of the gables of our two story house, and the tree stretches it's branches high above the roof top.
From the window in our master bathroom on the second floor, we have a perfect view of the nest, since it's right outside the window (less than 1½ meters away). We keep the blinds closed most of the time though to give the birds some privacy :-).

I noticed Dora sitting in the tree yesterday and again today making these purring noises calling out for Børge, and he has been collecting twigs all day to build the nest. They have been building a nest here every spring ever since we moved in three years ago (and they have probably been here even longer), but we have yet to see little baby pigeons in the nest... fingers are crossed - maybe they will succeed this year...

Here's a link to some of my older shots of the nest: https://365project.org/tags/dora%20and%20børge
