We took today off work to take a short trip up North to Lønstrup on the West Coast together with my mother in law.
Lønstrup is a tiny village sitting right on the shore of the North Sea, it has only about 550 citizens, but during the summer months there's a huge influx of turists here, and just like us they are drawn in by the beautiful nature, the sandy beaches and the delicious food.
We had decided to take my mother in law out for lunch, and we chose a restaurant here placed right on the edge of the sand dunes facing the ocean - when you sit there enjoying your food (we ordered fish of course :-)) it feels like you are sitting on the bridge of a ship looking out over the ocean... it's really an awesome place.
After lunch we took a long walk on the beach, the weather was warm and lovely, and the air was filled with the pleasant scent of the salty water... something that always makes me happy and reminds me of home... When walking there we spotted these fishing boats - there are no harbour in Lønstrup, so the fisher men pulls up their boats right there on the beach using a powerfull winch - just like they have been doing it for generations here.
