The Great Spotted Woodpecker is a bird species of the woodpecker family. It is distributed throughout Europe and northern Asia, and usually resident year-round except in the colder parts of its range.

What amazing detail! I'm always pleasantly surprised how the birds differ on the two sides of the ocean. Love his touch of lower color.

Wow, excellent shot, how close are the feeders to you and are you shooting inside or outside? How lucky to get woodpeckers on your bird feeders, excellent capture and a definite 'fave'!

@emmadurnford The feeder is about 15 feet away outside my office window. I mostly shoot through a double glazed window which isn't the best. When Its not to cold or windy I have the window open but they are quite watchful for movement.
