I see a lot of photos on the web of the lagging operation but very often the man who is responsible for compacting the grass in the pit/clamp get overlooked. This is the most important part of the process because if the grass is not spread and compacted well then air will be present and mould will grow.
Very true Rob we want no air in there!! We used to make our silage clamps just in a very large stack on the cement years ago. We had to shape it & try & keep the sides straight so it didn't go in too early. I have forked many a forkful on top of silage clamps but the sheeting up was the pits....all those tyres! This is a great angle you got here.....this lad looks quite young, big responsibility!
