Excuse me for posting early but I'm off camping for the weekend.
On Thursday night I was able to go on the Story Bridge Climb and they allowed you for this session to take a camera, although there was a number of conditions and restrictions. You are relying on the camera being handheld throughout as there is a lot of movement in the bridge and they won't allow you to carry a tripod.
It was an amazing experience but I think I would be more tempted by a sunrise class next time as opposed to the setting sun.
WOW! WOW! Did I say WOW? The way the bridge cables come up at us into the corners, the lights, the cars on the surface below...I think someone once told you your shots make them see how Spiderman felt swooping over the city> This surely does! What an amazing peek at something I'd never otherwise see. Thanks for sharing this! Fav~!
Quite a memory you have here Brian... were you scared to be up so high or so pumped full of adrenalien you didn't notice how high you were... fantastic wow wow shot especially being hand held. pat on the back for you my boy..nice
@debsulzberger Deb, unfortunately you are chained to the bridge at all times. They have so many safety regulations to comply to. We were all breath tested to ensure we were sober and just before stepping out we were scanned by metal detector to ensure we weren't taking any metal object on to the bridge. Your camera is strapped to you as is everything you have in your possession, you can imagine the problems if you dropped something onto the moving vehicles below. Height wasn't a problem, it was all safe and at no time did I feel unsafe. Actually I would have preferred to be roaming free up there but that is not possible.
@ozziehoffy Cassandra, one camera, with the attached lens and no additional accessories. That means no extra batteries, sd cards, filters etc. They can't risk you dropping anything. There is only set photographic climbs and they do give you a lot of time to do what you want remembering you are chained to the bridge with another dozen people that does restrict you. All the details are on their website.
Love the angle! Fantastic view and nicely captured. I did the Sydney bridgeclimb some years back - we did the sunset climb - it was amazing! I bet sunrise here would be spectacular too :)
Fav :)
Hope you have a great weekend.
Enjoy your camping weekend!
