We started to descend Mt.Fuji just before six o'clock and the valley had a surreal feel to it. The large lake in the middle is our destination for the night.
I was thinking that if you saw the sunrise from the summit you must have climbed to the top of Mt Fuji in the dark? This is another brilliant capture, have to fav again
@jenrobcarr Jennifer, we climbed to Station 8 the previous day and stayed at a hotel. (more a hut) They awake you at 1.30 and you start your ascent at 2.00am. By then there is just a steady stream of people making their way up to the summit. The amount of people keeps you at a steady pace which is good as it prevents you from going too fast and suffering altitude sickness. Being on the move, low light and people constantly moving there was no real photo opportunity but the constant stream of head torches going up the mountain had to be seen to be believed.
Wow, I can't tell you how much I like this. The whole experience sounds incredibly beautiful. I wish I had done this years ago. Fav+
P.S. I have been looking at all your other excellent photos of Japan but very busy at work so almost no time to comment lately. Hopefully things will quiet down a bit soon.
