Calliandra californica

We spent last weekend with Ben who lives about 5 miles outside of Washington DC. On Saturday we went to the National Botanic Garden and also walked around the front of the Capitol building. I’ve never been that close to the Capitol Building before and it was unusually uncrowded so we could get some decent photos. For supper we went to a fun little outdoor beer garden and had some good German beer. We took the Metro instead of driving which is always a novelty for this suburbanite.
Now as I scrolled down, I was sure this was gonna be an Australian native! You’ve definitely got your own range of “funky flowers” over there Becky 😄 Sounds like a fun visit.

It’s actually a native of Mexico. But I’m sure I saw plants like this when I was in Southern California, which I believe has very similar weather to you. I thought you would like it!

@seacreature we did have a lot of fun. A lot of museums close at 5:00 so we have to remember to get an earlier start next time.
