Bursting at the seams

The flower bud of my garlic chives is about to burst open to reveal lots of tiny white flowers.
Beautiful! :)

@tamer @bobfoto @c_t Thanks, looks like I'm slowly working my way around my garden with my macro lens.

OMG I love this! Maybe I should take up gardening or something! I've never seen this plant before but it's beautiful and the colors are fabulous!

@girlie Thanks Robin, yes I'll have to come back when they're all open.
January 21st, 2011
@callalilla Thanks Kimberly, it's just chives.
January 21st, 2011
@bella_ss The chives I've seen just look like grass. I've never seen this kind.
January 21st, 2011
@callalilla - even the grass needs to set seed someday???
January 21st, 2011
@bobfoto Got it. Just googled for images. I guess it makes sense but I've never seen the flowers. I love to cook but have NO green thumb so my experience is pretty limited to finished edible products. :)

This is lovely! The tones are so soft!

@callalilla - Chives can be grown in a pot, a trip to the local nursery or hardware store to buy a pack of seed, and some good quality potting mix, a pot, and you're away!

And the cool things with chives is you can collect your own seed or keeping cutting the plant down to the ground and using in your kitchen! It will keep on re-shooting! Always a good one to start with.

@bobfoto You may be vastly overestimating my growing abilities! I have killed orchids in a week flat, I tried an herb garden but the cilantro choked everything else out, tried tomatoes from seed but got nothing past tiny sprouts... I think I have ADD for gardening. :)

Wow amazing.

fav'd...fantastic image.
January 21st, 2011
@callalilla - :) That's pretty funny Kimberly, next time give your Cilantro (we like to call it Coriander) some more space, buy your tomatoes as seedlings (preferably grafted) and anyone can kill an orchid, they can be quite delicate!

Thats so beautiful! I love the colours!

@coolgirlsar @blueburn11 @esostizzo @chel Thank you sooo much for those nice comments! I was struggling with whether to post it or not :)
January 21st, 2011
@callalilla Kimberly, you really couldn't kill chives if you tried as long as you remember to water them ;)

Lovely picture! I love the focus. The green background really brings out the green in the garlic!
January 22nd, 2011
@kianti @poggy1818 Thanks, the green background is just the grass outside.
