This is a shot that so many people have done really well and I wanted to try. I need more practice but it was really hard to freeze those drops and get the flowers refracted clearly. Getting the tap to drip slowly is also hard.
I also wanted to say thank you so much to everyone that has left comments on my photos, it's much appreciated x
For a first attempt (?) Sheralee this is great!! You did really well. I love the purple. Drops in motion is something I want to perfect too...I need a lot more practice lol! Do you use a tripod or handheld?
Beautiful colours Sheralee! From experience, it's really hard getting perfect focus on these things with the short DOF needed, the only water refraction shots I've seen where both the refracted image and the drop itself is in perfect focus use focus stacking, which of course you can't do with drip shots. I also found using a built-in flash made it hard to freeze the drops perfectly as I couldn't get a fast enough shutter speed. This came up really nicely, the refraction is really crisp!
@microart Thanks Suze, you're right about the shutter speed!
@pixieperfect I put some flowers behind the kitchen sink, tried to get the tap to drip slowly but fast enough that I would get a drip in the shot. It's really hard to get it to drip slowly like that. I bounced my flash off the ceiling, used a tripod and manual focus. Took lots of shots and this was the best ;-)
@cocorose Thanks Bec. I did use a tripod but more for focusing because I used flash.
