The bees and butterflies were all feasting on the nectar and pollen from this flowering grass tree (xanthorrhoea). I also got some nice shots of the bees covered in pollen.
You are so great at taking beautiful butterfly shots Sheralee!! This is so crisp. Do you play around with the aperture and exposure much or do you know what will work best and set it to that straight up? Also what type of remote did you get? Is it wireless?
@jenrobcarr Thanks Jen! I really love my 100mm f2.8 macro. It's one of my favourite lenses and I use it all the time.
@cocorose Thanks Bec. I basically shoot what the camera suggests as far as exposure, then adjust when I check it but. But I always choose my aperture and ISO for available light, etc. This was the middle of the day so I was able to close down to f7.1 very comfortably. I then took some shots at f10 because I was trying for more depth of field to get a couple of bees both sharp. That's difficult with a macro lens though, you have such shallow depth of field even at f10 when you are up so close. I love the remote I got, it is wireless and works really nicely. I can find the name if you are interested, it was around $100 I think.
@cimes1 Well, thank you for faving mine too Carole x
@girlie Thank you Robin, aka butterfly, insect, bird and roo lady ;-)
@specky This one isn't actually a swallowtail, but I agree they are magnificent, we don't get many swallowtails visiting here either. This girl is a Common Crow.
@tsteall@harshbrown Thanks so much ladies!! I really appreciate that you liked her.
