Back out to the weir today with a much cleaner filter and a lighter lens. I think my big lens is just too heavy for the long exposures on my flimsy tripod. I was pretty happy with this one and I got a couple of others that I like too. I will be going back again to have another try. Feel free to critique.
What a perfect spot to do long exposures. I would have cropped off the sky to give the illusion of there being more 'waterfall'. Beautiful smoothness in the water.
Wow Sheralee this is fabulous, worth going back and retrying. I have an ND filter but not used it yet and after seeing this I am eager to try it out. Great Job!
That water is just so smooth - glorious and very well done. I also love the green splash in the foreground. The only thing that bothers me slightly is the concrete supports in the blown out sky - remove them? Or tighter crop? Just a thought.
@nadines@happysnap@chezza Thanks for your suggestions, I don't know why I didn't see that! Sometimes it's hard to properly see my own shots. I've given it a crop in Picmonkey and I think it's a bit better?
love love love the effect. If you're playing around with cropping, you could try the right-hand third so there's mostly waterfall and rocks and grass. Either way, it's wonderful.
@twistergirl Thanks Doris! When I cropped it I also thought there was too much rock on the left and foreground. I think I will just go out and try again. Thanks for your comment, I always appreciate critiques.
Two things I was taught in my landscape course - never underestimate a good tripod and focus on the land unless the sky adds to the art. I would get closer to the water in this one keeping a few rocks in the foreground. The water looks amazing though on its own! :)
