I've been waiting all week for some fog for my Get Pushed challenge from Joan @joansmor to choose one of her September tags for this week. I chose "fog". We drove out to the local river in really thick fog. The bridge on the right is no longer in use.
@terryliv Yes Poppo, this is at the Burdekin River. Most of the grey nomads have gone home now but there were still a few campers around. In winter this area is just covered with campers, caravans and motorhomes.
@joansmor I forgot to tag you Joan, this is my effort for your tag "fog". Thanks for the challenge, it was a fun one. I know I wouldn't have made the effort to go out here on a foggy morning and I'm glad I did. That's why I love Get Pushed.
@bella_ss And what a fabulous picture you took. I have an idea for mine but it has been such a busy week. Now I am challenged to do as well as you have here. I love when my challenge results in a trip to tp. Congrats.
i took photos of these bridges 20 years ago, and they still look the same. Your shots look far more atmospheric with that fog though! A lot of scrap metal sitting there!
Bridges like this are fascinating. Over dry beds right now, but in north Queensland, just waiting for torrential rain to fill them up with raging flood water. I lived in Charters Towers in the early 1960's, before the high road b ridge over the Burdekin at Macrossan, and it was always an adventure to drive out to the river when the low bridge was under water.
@tomtom Many a weekend was spent here as teenagers Andrew but that's a lot more than 20 years ago.
@frankhymus There is water in the river Frank but not a lot. I saw the bridge being built as I've lived here (Charters Towers) on and off since '69. The new/high bridge still gets closed in flood and it's a mighty sight to see. Locals still drive out to see it in flood and it's a "must do" for people that haven't seen it.
@bella_ss I am Australian, but living in the USA for many years. My father worked for the Bank of New South Wales, now Westpac, and we travelled Queensland quite a bit. Lived up on Rutherford Street. Didn't know exactly that's where the bridge picture was taken, but it reminded me so much of those years long gone.
