Open pit no longer used

There is a viewing area over the Ravenswood gold mine. We used to be able to see the trucks working and making their way around the layered road but there is a new area and this one is no longer used. I assume the green is from minerals in the ground.
For some reason, it reminds me of a Roman arena.

Right about the mining pollution. I wouldn't swim there. :)

I like how you have captured the mine, the green water certainly adds extra interest to the photo

That water is quite a colour - looks like it would glow in the dark!

Great perspective, tones and textures Sheralee, a night mare for swimmers but a gold mine for the photographer, Fav:)

Fantastic view. Nature seems to have reclaimed the area very nicely.

It reminds me of the disused open cut uranium mine at Mary Kathleen, the water is a turquoise blue and definite no go zone :)

The colour of the water is amazing! We just visited an old coal mine. The water was an impressive Aqua colour :)

It's a jewel, no matter if it's unapproachable.

What stunning details and colors. I like the large span of the rocky sides, and that green color is so unusual.
