Seeing red

Ah, that phrase, one floating around in the political jungle of my mind and then this morning at Target, a US store with a red logo. I joined a checkout line behind an active and extremely loud vocal preschooler who was announcing his physical prowess to the world. Emboldened by an extravaganza of Halloween themed items and Super Hero costumes he was listing everyone he could beat up once he donned the costume waiting in his mother's cart. His list was in progress when I joined the queue..."and I can beat up my mother and my father" then he turned to face me, raising his voice to a decibel thought impossible for, as we used to call an 'inside voice' back in my kindergarten teaching days, "and I can beat you up too, old lady." His mother just kept looking forward, and the young couple waiting behind me looked away when I caught their eye. I reached the cashier, who was a very young man, and he said, "You don't look a day over 35!" I just burst out laughing and uttered an old Art Linkletter phrase, "Kids say the darndest things."

White haired, over 65, I'm happy to say I feel younger than I look.
Little monster!
