Variagated Hosta by beryl

Variagated Hosta

Rather a rubbish day .Woke up tired !! Wasted time making phone calls !! Waited for return call ! Gary came home tea time & came out with me to tidy part of the garden !! Took this photo without much enthusiasm !! But one good thing got a photo before the slugs & snails got the Hostas !!
gwyrdd bendigedig! stunning green!

What a beautiful hosta, I could never grow them in my garden, I think they were devoured when I wasn't looking!

Do they eat hostas? Have to put snail bait out, can't have that!

Sorry about your day, I hope for a better one for you tomorrow. The variegated hostas are lovely and I like the little processing.

Pretty shot. I have the same problem with mine - try putting eggshells round the plant.
May 20th, 2013
Lovely shot. I think we just have to enjoy the hostas while we can. (Before the slugs and snails enjoy them even more!)

These are looking quite fresh and beautifuyl

Lovely plants, I'm very envious!

Lovely click. The Hosta is a permanent fixture in our garden also and like clockwork rise and shine in spring from the ground!

My hostas have already been devoured. Yours look superb though. Great shot, which will remind me of how mine should look!

The Hostas look so fresh and untouched!

Hope today is a better day. Glad the slugs and snails haven't gotten to the hosta yet.

Lovely shot, and you need nice healthy slugs and snails to feed the birds and hedgehogs

@sianb @valanne @maggiemae @quietpurplehaze @busylady @purplehaze12 @digitalrn @eileenw @purplehaze12 @eniaral @genesis_one @btorrey @markp @zambianlass @malc @gijsje @sturnus @rhos Apologies for the mass thank you -I appreciate your comments just as much but another day of painful joints & an app at the hosp for blood tests ( if they can get any out of me --I am getting quite mean with giving any blood lately !!) Slugs & snails are a pain where Hostas are concerned -but as @markp pointed out -its part of natures food chain !! Thank you Bep for looking in & for your follow - Off I go now as my DRACULA awaits !!

Nice natural photo, nice bit of garden therapy!

Jo
Your hosta looks in good health, there are some pretty good pour on anti slug liquids that help keep those little horrors away!
May 21st, 2013
@ivan Thanks Ivan thee is nothing like garden therapy & *You are nearer to God in the Garden ,than anywhere on earth *----R. Kipling
May 21st, 2013
@jo13 I didn't know about pour on liquids - but I do tend to leave "Au naturale" !! in case I have a poorly doggie or even worse dead doggie ---that would never do !

Jo
@beryl No you are absolutely right, the more natural the better. When I plant hostas for clients though I give them a little dose of something so that they look good for as long as possible!
May 21st, 2013
@jo13 That does sound good --this variety is quite prolific Hence I seem to regulary split the clumps in autumn & have quite afew in the back garden ,they do add to the texture & colour of the borders .My friends have benifited from my splitting the clumps as well -bucks free & bigger than they would get in the garden centres !

@beryl I like Kipling's verses and sentiments.

Lovely - I have some of these but they are nowhere near this stage yet. They are still little tubes of leaves coming out of the ground. This is a very attractive one. Half oranges with beer in are supposed to deal with slugs, although I haven't tried it.

Lovely picture, so well composed

@dandolo Thank you Dandolo --I have heard they are partial to beer ---but what if Alfie also got partial to a drop !! hehehe !!

@yrhenwr Thank you very much for your compliment
