Lovely photograph which stirs old memories. Looks like Rosebay Willow Herb (fireweed) which quickly establishes itself on waste land, especially in burnt-out areas. It was seen all over London after the blitz in 1940 and it was still a common sight well into the 1960s before post-war recovery really got under way and the skeletal remains of so many office blocks were cleared and redeveloped. Thanks for the memory ... and a very pleasing photo!
Beautiful shot and such lovely colours. I spoke to my sister tonight on the phone, she lives at Worsley in Lancashire and said that you have had a very mild autumn. 38 degrees here today.
@wordpixman Thank you so much Arthur for such an insight into the past ! Yes this fireweed does grow in abundance and in the past possibly on land which would be burnt to eradicate the bracken and heather .You do remind me of my dad as when I was a child (many moons ago !!) he would educate me with interesting snippets of natural history and of the world around me !!
Awww ... what a dilemma!!! Love the pink flowers in the foreground and the fall color in the background!!! Lovely comparison!!! Well composed and captured!!!
