By chance while watching QI a British comedy panel quiz game hosted by Steven Fry on the TV one evening ( my sense of humour ) I found out that a young Pigeon is called a squab ! -- never too old to learn !!
Anyway , yesterday the little squab (I rather like that name !! ) came to visit , and what a change a week has made the downy fluff has disappeared and proper feathers are more prominent and the tail has grown somewhat !! The beak has not as yet turned yellow like the parents . And he looked really well , flying down onto the fence without a mishap and able to fly up onto the conservatory roof So pleased he has made it ad is looking healthy . Mum and Dad are still visiting for their food -- so it looks as if I shay be feeding 3 this coming winter !
Squab is a new word for me - every day is a school day esp on 365!
