The visitor . by beryl

The visitor .

Over the last few days a couple of Magpies have been visiting the garden -- Another Love-hate of mine --such a beautiful bird to look at ,and one of the most intelligent bird ,But as a member of the crow family the Magpie will take eggs and nestlings of the smaller garden song birds. Although quite natural ,it can be very disturbing to see ! In spite of all -- he is a beautiful looking bird ,and I allow hi.m to feed at the bird table
One way how nature controls the habitat. It is humans who are the vandals. Such a pretty capture.

He is gorgeous, your magpies look totally different to the ones here in Australia.

I suppose it's every 'man' for himself in the nature world Beryl! They are very handsome birds & bossy looking ones too, we don't seem to have seen any recently thank goodness. If they are round the bird table all the others are off!

And I learned the other day that when they hardly have a tail feather they are youngsters, with a long tail feather they're an adult. Well captured though I hope for your little birds that he chooses another garden :-)
