Yesterday I met up with my friend Mary for lunch at The Mytton and Mermaid Hotel @Atcham - A lovely old hotel - a grade 11 listed building ,built in 1735. We chose a table for two by the window (by a radiator !! ) although they had a huge open fireplace burning logs at the end of the room ! We chose from the menu of the day ,and both chose the three bird roll (delicious ) on a bed of mash with fresh veg of the day . The hours were quickly spent eating and catching up on all the gossip .Although we didn't have much snow ,there was a sprinkling of snow in the air all day . Having had such a filling meal I didn't want any tea in the evening and so my tea turned to a Paddington Bear treat and enjoyed a Marmalade sandwich later in my dressing gown in front of the fire !!
What a lovely restaurant that must be, built in 1735! Their portions certainly look generous! Mary looks like such a nice lady. What fun! May I ask what “turning to a Paddington Bear” means?
A lovely photo of your friend Mary, she has a really friendly face! Friends are treasures! Love the look of your meal out, the vegetables look so fresh & green! What could be better marmalade sandwiches in your dressing gown!
Food looks really good, glad you had a great time catching up with your friend. We had a heavy downpour of snow this afternoon and it is very chilly outside.
Your food looks delicious and the trio of pea veg. is a great selection it all looks very fresh and tasty. Lovely capture of your friend nice to meet up and have a good chat.
Love your narrative and the age of the hotel is grand as my grandmother would say. I haven't had marmalade since my grandmother passed 40 years ago she loved them on biscuits and crumpets. Lovely presentation.
I very often have lime marmalade on toast when I don't want much to eat. Not quite Paddington, but close enough.
