Trees but not as we know them!

Day 268 - These monolithic forms are at a lovely country park over looking the Kent Downs, they stand at 10 metres tall. They were created from two woodland ash trees that were infected with a fungal disease called 'ash dieback' The trees were stripped of their bark, the wood was then drilled, treated and charred before having 11,000 hand crafted ash wood arrow shafts inserted, these arrows are suggestive of the epicormic growth that trees produce as they struggle for survival.
What an amazing find ! thank you for sharing both the interesting image and info ! fav
