Day 253 - This is Dapdune Wharf, Guildford, which has been managed by the National Trust since 1964. It was a former industrial wharf and boatyard and around the beginning of the 20th century it was the centre of barge building. At the Wharf there are two of the remaining three Wey barges left in the world - The Reliance was permanently damaged and is now kept in a gravel dry dock and you are able to go inside. The Perseverance IV is still afloat but in need of repair and is the subject of a 2010 National Trust appeal.
@marlboromaam Thank you for your comment - I always try and put a little information down so when I look back it helps refresh my memory! @louannwarren Thank you for your comments - I love researching and finding out information on my pictures, for future reference @carole_sandford Thank you for your comment - I'm so glad we joined the NT again this year as we have been to many more properties that are further afield due to 'staycationing in the uk'
