My husband, Ken, is a woodworker by hobby, as some of you have learned when viewing his birdhouse creations here on 365. On Monday last he was cutting metal for a birdhouse roof and the table saw kicked it back at him with enough force to put a deep gash in his forearm and break the bone. We recognize it could have been so very much worse and are praising God that it wasn't. The next day he had to have surgery to put a metal plate and screws in his arm. Six weeks anticipated recovery time. Needless to say, his time in the workshop for the present is curtailed. Please pray for him (and me!), as he gets bored very quickly if he can't stay physically busy.
Loving his smile and nice to see the face of your wonderful creative husband! 6 weeks isn't so long to mend. My hubby had a nasty skiing accident 18 months ago and he was non weight bearing on crutches for 12 weeks aggghhhh!! Like your Ken, he bores easily if he can't be active. But he made it through and Ken will too. All the best to you both, God bless you in all you need daily.
my husband broke his shoulder couple years ago- jerked off curb by our two big dogs -each 100 lbs- when they were attacked by a stray dog. . Is he left handed? He does look like he’s taking it in stride- hope he heals quickly.
@kvphoto Yes! When I first saw him stumbling toward the house, calling for me, and gripping his left wrist with his right hand, I was frightened to imagine that maybe he'd nearly cut his hand off with the table saw! Thanks so much for the prayers!
@casablanca Thanks so very much, Casa! Wow! How did your hubby fill his time? Mine isn't much of a reader (or a sitter. lol) He is already wondering if he can hoe the garden one-handed. I asked him how he expected to hold his cane and the hoe at the same time. Knowing Ken, where there is a will, there is a way! :-)
@bjywamer It is quite amazing what you can learn to do! Tell him he needs to put his creative hat on and work out what's possible. My hubby is not a sit still person at all, it must be said! But he continued to work from home on the computer and phone - funnily enough, the same as he is doing now in Lockdown, so he's been here before!! He discovered Soduko puzzles on the iPad and we played a lot of board games. Fortunately, he is an avid reader, so that helped. But I truly sympathise!
Oh my! I can absolutely see God's hand protecting him from worse harm from the description of the accident. I will be praying for his recovery- and especially for him to find something to keep him busy while he is unable to work with wood or fix things around the house. That is a tall order for a "doer". I'll be praying for you too- when Jeff is down and out- I think I suffer more than he does- haha!
