A Walk Through Chinatown...Gate of Happy Arrival

Well since today is the first day of the Chinese New Year I thought it would be nice this week to take you on a walk through Edmonton's Chinatown.
The Gate of Happy Arrival welcomes everyone to Chinatown. I love the colour and the architectural design of these type of gates. Tomorrow we will cross the street and take a look at what we can find at the Lucky 97 Market

@debsphotos I went to Chinatown in Chicago years ago on a field trip with middle schoolers to visit a few diverse sections of the city. Chinatown was the most memorable.

I love these gates, they have them all over Asia, not just China and you can really tell the difference in building style between them. It's subtle but I can tell the difference between the Japanese, Chinese and Thai gates
