raking leaves by bkbinthecity

raking leaves

Today we went and paid a visit to a lady in a nursing home. It had been a couple of weeks since we had a chance to go and see her. After lunch with Melody's parents we met a friend who took some photos for us to use for a Christmas Card. Then off to my Mom's to rake up the leaves in her yard. That is the first pile I raked up. As you can see the final result was a whole lot of leaves in her yard. Ended up with seven bags full
Ha! I think we collected about 12 bags yesterday too! Tis the season.

Sure looks like a lot of work.

Looks like you worked hard today. This is pay for all the things our parents have done for us. Well done!

Wow...that's a lot of leaves! Great collage to show your effort.

Good heavens! What kind and how many trees does she have? That is a BUNCH of leaves.... Hey, no fair getting ahead of us.... We send out photo Christmas cards every year, and we don't have our photos for them for this year yet.... Gotta' get with the program!! (My parents started sending photo cards when my brother and I were small -- 1944 -- and,, between them and John and me, we've only missed three years between then and now..... and our daughter is the third generation to keep up the tradition!!)

Wow that's a huge heap of leaves!

That must have been really hard work. I love gardening but one thing I hate is cleaning up.

Wow, you had a very busy day!

It sure is that time of year again. Cool collage. My husband has been sucking them up with the lawnmower and dumping them on a compost heap we have in our backyard.

When I went to Winnipeg, I noticed homeowners piled their bags of leaves against the house. Do you do the same?
October 26th, 2014
We never bag our leaves......just rake them up & put them in the green bin....that's when we have the time otherwise we just leave them to rot...good compost!

That's a big job well done! Nice shots of the two of you.

Nice shots! I am tempted to jump into that pile of leaves! That's a lot of leaves!! Where does someone take bags of leaves?

Nice diptych, it tells a story. I remember having to rake leaves when we lived in the UK. Luckily most of our trees are gum trees here and they don't lose their leaves in winter.

@aglennc Well we need to get a head start on the Christmas cards as it takes Melody awhile to chose the final photo. My Mom has a very large Crabapple Tree in her back yard. The front yard is covered in leaves from the trees in the surrounding area

October 28th, 2014
@fishers Thanks Ian
October 28th, 2014
@678tabby She actually has only one very huge tree in her back yard the rest come from trees from surrounding areas
October 28th, 2014
@bkbinthecity We usually have our photos selected and cards ready to order at Costco by now. I'm the "photographer' and "addresser" of them, and I try to have them (and our accompanying letter and personal notes on each) ready to get our foreign ones (except Canada) in the mail the day or so before Thanksgiving. Try to get the rest mailed by about 12/10. May not happen this year. Haven't even started on any of it.

7 bags? That's just an appetizer around here! Good job- on the raking and bagging as well as being a loving son.

@olivetreeann Thanks Ann
November 2nd, 2014
god bless you! but are all the trees around the neighbourhood done yet? because 7 bags in one go is not enough you know. there are still more to come, unless you've been there a couple times before. :-)
November 2nd, 2014
@summerfield Thankfully because of one huge windstorm the leaves are all off of the trees
