You can almost here the train coming

Today as a family we had lunch at the Lions Park in St. Albert, a city just north of Edmonton, where Melody spent her early childhood.
One of the paths takes you to the river and to this old trestle bridge.
It was built in 1907 by the Canadian Northern Railway and is still in use today.
Not only is it a great piece of history but it makes for wonderful picture. It was so quiet and peaceful that I could just imagine hearing a train approaching the crossing
Glad it is still used - means it is not falling down! A piece of history!

Great angle - you really get an impression of the scale of it...impressive.

This looks so familiar. I wonder if we've seen it. We've gone north out of Edmonton on occasion. Super shot, and I like the curving POV of the trestle and your composition.

Great perspective. Even with all that wood, I think how heavy those trains are and get a little nervous.
