The Stargazer by bkbinthecity

The Stargazer

Continuing with the sculptures l came across last week.
Today is a sculpture of David Thompson. He was a British furtrader, surveyor and map maker.
In his career he travelled over 56,000 miles and mapped almost 5 million square miles throughout North America.
He did some of his work right here in Alberta. This sculpture shows him using his sextant.
It is titled The Stargazer as this was the name given to him by native tribes.
It seemed appropriate to post this today as he was born April 30 1770
I love the history that goes with this!
