Things Are Changing

So are a couple of photos. Same location but very different buildings.
On the left is the Buena Vista Building which used to be home to the Glenora Bed & Breakfast.
It has since been torn down and is being replaced by a new condo.
The did save the bricks from the the original building which will be put back in place when it is done
Fav. Mumbai has a lot of old crumbling buildings being replaced with new multi-storey hi-rise apartments. Sometimes making an area unrecognisable.

Good shots. While I like modern buildings, I love the older buildings. I wish we could save more of the older ones, especially ones like the one you photographed. The vintage sign is also precious on that building.

Awesome comparison of then and now! I hope when they reinstall the bricks you can still see the ghost sign from the old building. Maybe you could post another photo of the new building when it is completed. Fav.

Nice blending of the old and the new. Your project shows how thoughtful Edmonton is in decisions like this.

glad you're documenting the changes - I think in this instance, I prefer the older building - granted I mayf eel differently when the newer is completed.

It would be good to see when the bricks are replaced. It's a shame to see the old buildings torn down but can understand it.
January 19th, 2019
Very cool comparison. So glad that they are keeping the bricks from the old building - important to retain history when we can!
