The color is not off, these pups are covered in soot. This is Ash and Cinder, brother and sister chihuahua/jack russell puppies who spent some time playing in the ash bucket before being surrendered to the shelter. They are 7 weeks old and I'm hoping we can find them a home together as they are very attached to each other. Ash is the boy on the left and Cinder the little girl on the right and they each weigh a whopping 3 1/2 pounds! They were to be euthed yesterday as owner surrenders so I lucked out and they should be on their way to new homes this month if all goes well.
@petersonsheri Don't feel about the mama, I am delivering her to her new foster mom tomorrow and she is will be taken care of by a boxer rescue along with all her babies..she gets her happy ending, I won the fight for her. Evidently she was beaten where she came from, she flinches at everything, so she is one lucky girl to be away from that.
@gingersanders Thank you...I'll be fostering these little ones, but if anyone wants to foster, there's so many more who need a place to go! Big, small, puppies, dogs, cats...we are so in need of fosters.
@blackdogs Oh Becca, thank you so much for letting me know the update on her. I have felt just sick. Can you imagine ever wanting to work at a high kill shelter?? To take a mother and her babies and kill them is just unbelievable. I am so thankful that she and her puppies will be cared for. Thank you for fighting the fight.
OMG...They look like Tomas..The sweet doggy we adopted from a shelter. He's Chihuahua/Jack russell too. Ohh man, I wish I was closer, I'd add them to my little family.
They will be available for adoption in Maryland. We take the dogs out to the Petsmart in Germantown to meet their adopters or for our adoption events out there. Our next trip will get us there on the 18th of this month...we go twice a month with our dogs, puppies, and cats. We have a courtesy posting on the MCSPCA website for our animals. So many more homes available out there for all these little rural Kentucky animals.
UPDATE: Ash and Cinder were adopted together and are enjoying life on their country estate with lots of room to explore and lots of love! A true Cinderella story for them.
