One-legged London pigeon checking me out warily. I have no idea how he didn't fall off, bless.
They get bad press, but I really like the humble pigeon. I think they are quite funny to watch, good characters (they dont seem to mind sharing food unlike some other birds) and they eat a lot of stuff people throw away... so they help keep Britain tidy :-)
great great focus!! I remember when I used to live in Germany...and we traveled to London I think it was...where there was a "butt" load of pigeons and we could hand feed them and they would land on you!! I lived in Europe for only 2 years...I hope to go back again :D

Hey Lauren, I wonder if that was Traflaga Square? Can you remember a fountain nearby? It used to be famous to feed the pidgeons there, but they banned it. Thought there are a few folk who still break the rules I think....!
What a photo! We've got lots of pigeons here in Brisbane; and they've been known to figure out how to use the water fountains. It takes three of them to work it. One to be watch-out and other two to bath each other; then switch. It made the papers one day... people thought it was quite cute.
I absolutely love this. I'm considering buying a new lens -- I think it is 55-250...We'll be going to a camera show next weekend so I can try some out! Seriously, I adore pigeons. I agree -- I just don't get the bad rap. They do have such personality! I love to watch them. VIVA LA PIGEON!
You make a great case in defense of the lowly pigeon but I'm not sure I buy your argument that he and his kind keep Britain clean. If he is anything like American pigeons he leaves a quantity of droppings equivalent to what he consumed.
Ahhhh.... I hear you over pigeon poop Alison, but I'd rather have that that what the folk on a friday night leave behind after drinking too much! Nice subject, lol.
