Friends are crazy... but such fun! by blightygal

Friends are crazy... but such fun!

My friend from San Fran sent my other half and I a parcel from her recent trip to Japan, full of odd stuff that the Japanese folk come up with in their own unique and absolutely wonderful way! She often goes to Japan, having ties there, and has sent me some fun things over the years, but this year was tops as we just found out!
The little sticker says "an acquired taste" and never was a truer word said. It was stuck to a packet of pickled plums, but went well with the Bamboo charcoal coated peanuts, washed down with black bean tea!!! She also sent some other cute things...
.....but now I want to send some typically British and hopefully odd flavoured things. Any idea's?!! Love to hear them!
Baked beans!!! Oh, and definitely a Twinnings Tea and if you can pull it off a cider and Cadbury Chocolates!

It sure is fun to get a box of surprises like that. How about some clotted cream and lemon curd?

I love shopping in the Japanese stores in Vancouver, they have such cool looking stuff and I sometimes buy it even if I'm not 100% sure what it is!

This is cool! I shop in an internation store here for Bulgarian goodies, and when I pass by the Japanse aisle I am always a t a loss. So many weird foods, so many labels I can't read...

I've tried those save for the peanuts--they do sound tasty.
How about some Devonshire Cream, a tin of Birds Custard, a jar of Marmite and a Guiness topped with a Kendall Mint cake (brown, please). Yes, that's about right. Oh--you mean for your friend? No idea....

I have a girlfriend who goes to Japan pretty regularly ... I think I've even tried the pickled plums before. Going to her house is always a treat because she is actually half Japanese and we have a huge Asian community here, so lots of shops and markets loaded with Asian yummy-ness that she introduces me to. BTW, nice shot & great colors. :)
