Had some lovely evening light this evening, so I managed to run outside for a little while to photograph some grass heads I had noticed earlier. I discovered that macro photography of grass is not particularly easy when you are 37 weeks pregnant!
A fav for me! I love thesimplicity of the composition and subject. The light is great as well as the post processing. This pink tones give a very romantic atmosphere! The dof is also amazing, great picture!
Hi there @stevecameras, thankyou so much for your lovely comments! Yes, you are right, I do have a Canon 60mm macro lens, I absolutely love it and couldn't recommend it highly enough. It is also a wonderful lens for taking portraits and I find it pretty versatile. I have recently bought an L series 35mm fixed lens too (total fixed lens convert) and love that one too, it has a really shallow depth of field, but I must admit, I am still putting the 60mm back on regularly.
@bluebell Thank you for getting back to me. And one other question if I may indulge myself...you have a lot of shots especially the gorgeous portraits of your boys with a rather lovely washed out, filmic type look. Is this a plug-in, or just photoshop? I just realise from coming on here that I really do know the basics and very much want to expand how I take but also treat my photo's in post. I have seen a lot of photography recently with that kind of filmic wash and it looks lovely.
@stevecameras Hi again, I use photoshop to edit my photos, I do a few things to get that washed out look, one is to muck around with the exposure offset in photoshop (this gives it a hazy look), another way is to shoot in to the light when taking the photo and overexposing slightly and I also fiddle with photoshop actions from http://www.florabellacollection.com/ quite often, they have a great range of vintagey looking actions which are really helpful (I have only been using photoshop for 6 months or so and still have alot to learn!)
Sold. I might have to purchase this package after seeing your work. I have sen others and these are just lovely. I often try and over expose my shots too. I've never used the Exposure offset and i've been on Photoshop for years. I have know for a while I do the same sort of things and to tweaks colours I tend to use the RGB curves and just play around with separate channels to get the desired look. I think I will have a good look at Florabella and go with one of the bundles. Thank you for letting me into your work a little, some would be secretive but I hope that this community is all about sharing. You really have inspired me this evening. Thank you, and good luck with the rest of the project. I lokk forward to seeing your updates.
