I escaped the heat this weekend and camped in the cool pine trees. I took these series of pictures on my drive back to the desert. It is said that Arizona is one of the few places in the world where one can drive from desert to tundra in a single day. http://arizonaexperience.org/land/az-habitats
The last shot makes me smile 'cuz I see these cacti propped up everyday on my drive to work as work is being done on the highway. It is against the law to destroy saguaro cactus, so they are awaiting their relocation.
@maggiemae Right as the heat starts to get under our skin, most people that live in Phoenix do this drive at least once during the summer, if not more often. A lot of people keep cabins up north.
