Borax mine ruins
Borax used to be mined in Death Valley back in the day. I googled where the largest borax mine is, and I was surprised to learn that the largest mine is still in California.

Mining is desperate work anywhere... in Death Valley it must have been insupportable - I guess the valley often lived up (down?) to its name.

@vignouse
ya, not sure why they stopped mining there. Probably cost got too prohibitive over time.

The valley is a place of many contrasts. Like how the abandoned building also symbolizes death.
