A couple of years ago I was fortunate to be able to spend a few weeks working with the Ukrainian Fire Service, in some small towns in the Odessa region and also in the Crimea. This set of Matryoshkas were given to me as a gift for my wife from one of their Firefighters wives.
@myautofocuslife Thank you Livia, the colours are great aren't they? @humphreyhippo Thanks Humphrey, I've wondered about what each of them is holding - maybe it's a folk story or nursery rhyme, something to do with a meal maybe?
@allisonrap Thanks Allison lol.....I doubt there is a Ukranian translation for vegetarian :) @ruthmouch Thanks Ruth, can you remember what yours depict?
@bluefirebucket Can't believe I found them so easily....the ladies have yellow hair and red flowery dresses and the chaps have white beards and look like the 7 dwarves!
@ruthmouch Definitely seems like folk story stuff I think Ruth, thanks for looking for them :) @lorraineb Thanks Lorraine, just one of several lovely gifts I was lucky enough to receive, maybe going back later this yer, fingers crossed :)
It is lovely to meet your family. I love the bright colours and all the details. I love the mum is much bigger than dad, even though he is holding the pig which would be quite large!!
@joluise Thanks Jo - I've just mentally assigned a member of my real family to each of these - but I won't be telling them! :) @iqscotland ta, you wouldn't believe the Heath Robinson affair that I set up for that background!
This is a beautiful set of Matryoshkas, out of the ordinary. I am sure your wife loved them. I have always liked them, and actually I shared here one set that I brought also from Ukraine: http://365project.org/anazad511/365/2012-03-23.
Love the pig!

You certainly seem to do some travelling, lucky lady!
