On the way home from picking Joey up from school today I noticed something move over in the cornfield. I looked over and saw 2 Bald Eagles that were unfortunately dining on a deer carcass. I turned around and stopped on the shoulder of the road and took hundreds of shots but they were so far out in the field it was hard to get a clear shot. When they flew off they went into the park across the road and landed in a tree so of course we had to go over there and see if we could get a little closer. This guy actually sat there and let me drive right up under the tree he was sitting in....after a couple minutes he took off but I did get a couple shots of him. Boy was he giving us the evil eye.
As an afterthought I decided to tag this for the hope theme this week. The beauty that Mother Nature provides, including these magnificent birds can lift the spirt, feed the soul and brighten an otherwise dismal day, thus giving hope...to me anyway!
Wonderful shot!! Very clear. There are only 3 mating pairs of Bald Eagle in my county & two of them are on private land. The 3rd pair hangs out at our reservoir that is our water supply & access is restricted. So, I love Bald Eagle shots!!
Paula, this is wonderful. I absolutely love how he is puffed up and you can see the white tips on his feathers. I can't let this one get by without a fav.
What a beautiful shot!!! He's so perfectly focused... Love his yellow beak, his white-rimmed feathers!!! He certainly looks wicked, though--wow, what an expression!!! Great shot, Paula!!!
I'm going backwards with these posts, so I already knew about the amazing sight you came upon. It was your lucky camera day. This entire series of shots is unbelievable! I can only imagine how excited you were. Gorgeous, beautiful, amazing...
What a very soecial encounter!! :-) It must be awesome to see them in the wild! Here, we can only see them in zoos and wilflife parks, which is always kind of sad.
Oh my gosh, they just get better and better! The detail you captured here is amazing. Joey sure is getting to appreciate a lot of nature as Grandma captures her daily shots!
@bluemoon Paula, my grandson will be 8 in March as well. Not sure if I have mentioned this to you but he joined 365 9 days ago. It is so much fun to see the world through his eyes, especially since he lives 1,000 miles away. Check him out . . . James Thomas.
Beautiful shot! The friend I sometimes take pictures with is always looking for a place to find eagles to photograph. They are ver photogenic. Great job with this one.
