Spent an enjoyable afternoon strolling around Woodhorn Colliery Museum, breathing in frosty air and enjoying clear skies and sunshine. In my excitement and anticipation of a night out and G & Ts had forgotten my camera bag in the office Friday evening...wouldn't otherwise find myself next door to work on a weekend and at a time when the museum is open, so really, it was a bonus :-)
Thank you all for the kind and wonderful comments and faves over the past few days! You are all truly inspirational and make this little corner of the universe a very special and beautiful place :-)
@fueast it's such a beautiful place now surrounded by nature reserve and lake. Hard to imagine what it must have been like at the height of coal production. But I just love those old industrial buildings and remnants too!
@mortisa Thanks Jane! No, it's Woodhorn Colliery in Ashington. Where the pitmen painters are from. It's now a fantastic museum and the two old heapsteads and a few other buildings remain.
@mortisa It's really worth it! And the only thing you have to pay is £3 for parking (and whatever you might have in the lovely cafe ;-))
It has an exhibition where you walk through mining history from 1918 to just after the miner's strikes. Lots of other bits too and a room full of paintings from the Ashington Group.
@sixthblade Thank you Miguel! I did a bit of cross processing which gave the sky more of a yellow hue, but really brought out the shadows on the wheel and gave it a bit more depth. the colour of the wheel/heapstead is pretty much as is

Did you touch the colours at all?
:-)
*skipping away excitedly*
@jenirainbow glad you agree :-)
