Final day in Germany with my parents.
The pond is rather massive, you're only seeing a sliver here. A very popular spot for a stroll, picnics, BBQs, paddle and rowing boats in summer and - weather permitting - ice skating and curling in Winter. Unfortunately bathing is no longer on the list due to recurring problems with blue-green algae.
As much as I enjoyed our visits to the pond as a child in the summer weeks I absolutely loved the magic of skating across this massive expanse in Winter.
The frozen surface looked beautiful in the afternoon sunshine. A few brave trails could be spotted across the ice, but I wouldn't have trusted it yet. Even though we had had -13 degrees the night before and it was still -5 during the day...brrr!
