Lord of the Flies by bobfoto

Lord of the Flies

well I did what any other hobby photographer would do on a Saturday Morning when the weather is fine and warm... I made repairs to the guttering on my roof. When I removed my downpipe, I noticed it was full of frogs so I relocated them into my little shade-house and took some snapshots of them playing around in the hanging baskets. This guy was the biggest and around 12cm (4inches) in body length.

It was hard to choose between the best three shots... number 2 and 3 can be found here:

Great shot :) I love frogs, and this one is certainly cute!

I like no 3 he's got modelling potential. :-)
January 15th, 2011
Awesome! I think I like #3 the best.
January 15th, 2011
@beth3211 - Thanks Beth, this is quite a mature frog, his size suggests he is an old man, so hopefully he is safe in my drainpipes!
January 15th, 2011
All 3 of them are great shots. 3 has an awesome title.
January 15th, 2011
They are all the same froggy... just a big poser. I guess I like this one for the proudness in his pose.
January 15th, 2011
@robynelizabeth @akyoung @myla - and thanks :) I should've conducted a vote???
January 15th, 2011
Great shot! You are so lucky to have such beautiful "models" right in your back yard!
January 15th, 2011
Wow, it's Saturday there already! It's still Friday evening here! What a wonderful old dude - this is surreal! I enjoy your photos each day!
January 15th, 2011
@emeraldboots - Saturday lunchtime... only a few minutes to noon. I'll probably get a really good snake shot now that I have posted another frog so early!!! Or even a Crocodile.... LOL!
January 15th, 2011
Great photo. I love your work.
January 15th, 2011
@sharkeyshark - Thanks Lindsey, it helps the 365 project along is I know there is something reliable in the garden.
January 15th, 2011
That was a hard decision!......looks like you had fun with them ;)
January 15th, 2011
@bobfoto I evny you...but happy to be following you! Maybe get an ace account so that you can share the other photos?
January 15th, 2011

January 15th, 2011
@bella_ss - Thanks Sheralee, and Froggy thanks you too. :)
January 15th, 2011
ooh! I love the frog pics!!! They are much cuter than the frogs I find around our house! The pole dancer frog was my favorite...but Lord of the Flies is a cutie too!
January 15th, 2011
@jpblanton - Cheers Jennifer, the Pole Dancer is certainly gaining some votes.
January 15th, 2011
nice pose and light.
January 15th, 2011
my, you have those frogs well trained
January 15th, 2011
@studio2091 - Thanks Amy. I wasn't sure with the backlighting if it would work okay.

@littlec - They get board and rent and bugs and grubs, and all I ask is a pose or two. I don't protect them from the snakes though... they have to fend for themselves sometimes.
January 15th, 2011
This is absolutely adorable! Frog relocation...that's nice.
January 15th, 2011
Great capture and clever idea!
January 15th, 2011
Wow Jason - these are all great photos. My favourite is the Pole Dancer. I adore frogs. I used to keep tree frogs in a heated enclosure - I find them fascinating little creatures. Great shots. I'm quite envious of you finding so many in your eaves and knowing that they have taken up residence in your shade house.
January 15th, 2011
Really enjoy seeing your work - love the Pole Dancer pic the best, though. :)
January 15th, 2011
Wow! so well defined, even though he's backlit.
January 15th, 2011
@aj1268 @bethanyjay @murnane @russianblue @swilde - Thanks Paula, Bethany, marg, K and Sue... I think if I had taken a poll, the "ahem" pole dancer is the definite favourite. It was here in the house before I committed myself to this photo.

I think I went with this one as being backlit, it was a trickier shot, and I like the character in his skin-folds...
January 15th, 2011
It's sooo cute!
January 15th, 2011
@reinatoresano - Thanks Reina! :)
January 15th, 2011
He's awesome.
January 15th, 2011
@emmak - Thank you Emma. :)
January 15th, 2011
Seriously Jason.... do you live in a nature reserve?! Another day, another amazing photo! Loving your work :) You've captured great detail of ol' Mr Frog's skin, and I am a bit of a fan of the pole dancer too!!
January 15th, 2011

January 15th, 2011

@camarobabe - Thanks Carly :)

@kookie21 - Thank you Danielle :)
January 17th, 2011
Wow. Seriously. Do you live in a zoo or nature reserve?
January 17th, 2011
@debmayne - up here in North Queensland, we all live on pretty big blocks of land and we not so crowded as a city is, so the animals have a fair bit of space to live amongst us two-legged folk.
January 17th, 2011
@bobfoto Why did I get the impression you lived in Canberra?
January 17th, 2011
@debmayne - might be the Tim and Rebecca connection??? They are co-workers but my office covers more room then theirs!!!
January 18th, 2011
he's a wise frog :)
January 18th, 2011
@houdiniem - I hope so Emily. :) He looks like he has lived for some time, I have no idea how old he is...
January 19th, 2011
