Where Frogs Lie by bobfoto

Where Frogs Lie

When a Cyclone approaches, everyone needs to seek refuge in a safe place, often in the smallest room without large windows. This is invariably the bathroom or toilet. Imagine my surprise when I went to hunker down for the storm to find ol' Freddo here had beaten me to it.

Frogs aren't daft, he knows where it is safe...
Good thing you've cleaned that lately!
February 2nd, 2011
What is he in? and how many frogs do you have in your flat and how is it down there with that Cyclone??? I have been thinking about all of you down there... Stay safe!!
February 2nd, 2011
@wendyperry365 I'm pretty sure he's inside the toilet bowl!
February 2nd, 2011
@catheniale Oh ok I see that now. LOL It looked at first like he was under glass.. LOL
February 2nd, 2011
lol how cute :-) such a waiting game now
February 2nd, 2011
I was thinking about you and everyone else when I saw the news this morning. I am hoping you are all alright. I love this picture...a great surprise!
February 2nd, 2011
@catheniale - photoshop is a wonderful tool... LOL!

@wendyperry365 - there are heaps of frogs here... too many to count, but this is the first guy to appear in our toilet... I'm glad I turned on the light before I sat down!!!!

@robynelizabeth - like waiting for a traincrash Robyn! I hope you are safe, where you are.
February 2nd, 2011
@emeraldboots - Thanks Jill, like Robyn says, it is all about the wait now. I feel really sick in my stomach with the anxiety, it is not a pleasant experience! Just remember, DO NOT WATCH commercial television when you are in this situation, they just go on and on and on about the end of the world!
February 2nd, 2011
Aww poor froggie.
February 2nd, 2011
@bobfoto oh so true about the watching of commercial tv.. relatives down south all get the wrong idea as well, and start to worry, before anything has even happened.
yeah we are all safe.. in Pimlico.. nothing else we can do but wait till tonight. hope you are all safe too.
February 2nd, 2011
@bobfoto Awww...I hate that when the TV does that...it is the same here in the States. Just turn it off and enjoy the photos on 365 while you can. I am positive you will be fine...so where are you now?
February 2nd, 2011
@debmayne - poor froggie's alright :D

@robynelizabeth - good to hear you are okay Robyn. I must admit, the breeze is quite nice and cool at the moment!!!

@emeraldboots - at home in Townsville. With the frogs and ducks and parrots and spiders and rain.
February 2nd, 2011
I meant are you underneath the house?
February 2nd, 2011
@emeraldboots - no too much dirt under my house... I live in not a typical North Queensland dwelling up on poles, but my place is a conventional brick home. I'm hoping the three little pigs got it right tonight!
February 2nd, 2011
Good luck and keep us updated!
February 2nd, 2011
@wendyperry365 - oky doky. Currently some real rain is falling, getting a bit wet out there, and the wind is getting stronger. The barometer is falling too!
February 2nd, 2011
Jason I feel really anxious for you all up there. I have a brother in law, his wife and 3 little kids in Cairns and they are still there. I hope you are safe where you are. All of Australia is watching and hoping that you all stay safe. I hope to see you on here again tomorrow with an update xoxo
February 2nd, 2011
@murnane - thanks Marg, your family in Cairns should be better off as the Northern side of our cyclones are generally the "better" side... less rain and wind... sorta. I hope they have a safe place to bunker down in.
February 2nd, 2011
h
Thats one smart frog! Keep safe.
February 2nd, 2011
awww bless the little fella. stay safe Mr Jason!
February 2nd, 2011
Hang in there...if the froggie can find a refuge, so can everybody else (including you )

When this blows over I'll tell you about me and the green tree frogs in the toilet at Harlacstan...(not good spelling for an ex-resident)
February 2nd, 2011
@touzel - Thanks h, I'll pass the word onto the frog, next time he swims in my dunny!

@houdiniem - thank you very much Ms Tull, I appreciate your kind words, on this very dark dark night.

@swilde - its a deal... TC Yasi can depart first and then I will ask.
February 2nd, 2011
I must say, a great photo to capture the mood of the day.... clever little Froggie you have there :)
February 2nd, 2011
Great photo! I hope the froggy looks after you and continues to advise you until the all clear! He obviously knows what he's doing...
February 2nd, 2011
No way i'd be sitting on that dunny.Hope you are keeping safe!
February 2nd, 2011
Love this shot; have been telling 365ers for sometime about how the green tree frogs get into the dunnies here.
Do hope you're okay, Jason. Have many friends and relatives in Cairns and Townsville and now count you as one of them. Stay safe. Know what it's like waiting for these to hit but this is a really big one...
February 2nd, 2011
Do they crawl up thru the drains or do they somehow manage to hop around in your house and find a toilet? :s I just don't know how I'd react to seeing something like that.. I know you're going to do your best to stay safe, but I'll say it again.. You and yours stay safe, Sir..
February 2nd, 2011
@alia_801 - thank you alia, you'd think with all the wind and rain outside, the wildlife would be hiding, but the frogs are loving it tonight!
February 2nd, 2011
@kirsty - I am, and unfortunately I have no other option in regards to ablutions... the froggies foot pads are tickly though!

@buggus - both I think Oleta. And thank you for your kind words.
February 2nd, 2011
@girlie - Thank you Robin, so far so safe... we waited for so long for Yasi to arrive, now we wait for Yasi to get on shore.
February 2nd, 2011
Aack! That could be a shock in the middle of the night! Have to fav it and show it to my kids. :-) Praying for all of you in the path of the storm.
February 2nd, 2011
I also thought he was under glass until I read...oh my!! That is one BIG frog! One of my fears is sitting down and something being in the toilet (TMI?) Oh this gives me the heebie geevies ;p I just looked again...I would go into cardiac arrest for sure!!
February 2nd, 2011
@roejan @tnamari - he gets fed well!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear sorry! Thank you for your prayers Roe, but can you speak up, no-one seems to be listening. This storm is now in its 9th hour of wind and rain.... maybe another 9 to go?

And sorry about the heart there TinaC :)
February 2nd, 2011
Awesome! Neat 'roommate"!!
February 2nd, 2011
I love the picture, but exactly how does a frog get in to the toilet?
February 2nd, 2011
@rbobh69 - sorry Bob, "roomy" got evicted, he wasn't flush with cash or liquid assets to pay the rent...

@lmasinton not sure Lael, either he swam in, or climbed up the outside....
February 2nd, 2011
Great photo, good think you keep your toilet clean! lol :D Hope these 9 hours are uneventful! ;)
February 2nd, 2011
@bobfoto hmmm, very interesting. Be safe. I hope your storm causes you no issues
February 2nd, 2011
@tesia @lmasinton - Thank you Tesia and Lael, it is still very windy here and we are safe in our humble home. I hope and pray that those closer to the eye of the storm are okay today as the sun is just starting to rise. Well no sun, but it is getting light.
February 2nd, 2011
This is awesome Jason. My thoughts are with all of you. I have a few friends on here on the East side of Australia. It seems that you've had enough bad weather for a while.
February 2nd, 2011
This is hysterical! You're an animal beacon! And if your TV weathermen are anything like ours, they LIVE for a storm like this! It's the pinnacle of their career! Beautiful frog! Where did he get relocated to, the shower?
February 2nd, 2011
Jason I can't believe this is your photo, sorry. Your toilet bowl that clean, I don't think so!!
February 2nd, 2011
@ajspook - the wonders of photoshop, every advertising editor uses that tool to brighten and whiten. Even teeth!

@petersonsheri - I hope you are right Sheri, Mother Nature was well pissed off with someone of late!

@aj1268 - On the teev, they are clowns, they should have been strung up to a Palm Tree last night! And the frog was relocated to a puddle outside, where he's meant to be!
February 2nd, 2011
This is so funny! Poor thing just wants somewhere to stay with the crazy weather. lol I would have freaked! I love frogs but that would have scared me at first.

And is your toilet really that clean?? I don't think mine is even that white right after I clean it! Maybe it's just too old...
February 2nd, 2011
@jennarichards - not after the weather last night... might need a good scrub later!!!

I was gonna flush the frog! It is really funny watching them swim around!
February 3rd, 2011
too cute. he just wanted to keep you company.
February 3rd, 2011
@vaderkip - he knew it was the safest room in the house.
February 3rd, 2011
Very funny - he'd heard you were a frogtographer! :-)
February 4th, 2011

February 4th, 2011

@glendq - Thanks Glendq :)
February 4th, 2011
That certainly is a brave place to hide lol.
February 21st, 2011
@amz87 - is after a Baked Bean Pie.
February 21st, 2011
Oh dear :-p
February 24th, 2011

February 24th, 2011
