The Old Angry Sky. by bobfoto

The Old Angry Sky.

Didn't stop today... the wet weather has caused chaos on the roads and I had a long journey to make.... but to satisfy my 365 hunger. I stopped for a few minutes and took this shot of a waterfall. But to me it looks like the angry sky raining (sic) terror down on the hapless mountains and trees!!!

For those who are interested, a photo of the entire Barron Falls can be found here:

Wow, that is an amazing photo!
March 7th, 2011
WOW! Sensational photo!!
March 7th, 2011
This is a most extraordinary photo Jason! Look at the volume of water. Not sure that there is an adjective to describe the force or power of this photo. Thanks for posting the entire falls - that was great too. This was a great choice to focus in on. You guys must be getting some rain up there!
March 7th, 2011
What an amazing photo! This really shows the mighty power of nature!
March 7th, 2011
I thought it was a snowstorm at first.
March 7th, 2011
Goodness! That does look mean & scary! Great capture.
March 7th, 2011
Fantastic capture mate. You can feel the raw power in it. You must've had a hell of a lot of rainfall up there.
March 7th, 2011
Wow thats crazy!!!!
March 7th, 2011
Wow. Just wow....
March 7th, 2011
It does just totally capture the concept of "power"!
March 7th, 2011
fantastic!
March 7th, 2011
Whoa! Awesome!
March 7th, 2011
WOW! fantastique!
March 7th, 2011
@bella_ss @curlz1702 - Thank you Sheralee and Jenna :)

@murnane @Cherrill - Mother Nature has certainly been grumpy at someone in Queensland this year!

@elephantgirl - never seen a snowstorm, if they look like this then I am extra glad I live in the tropics!

@canberrabec - thanks Bec :)

@dcr - I got home eventually to find 100mm (4 inches) of rain in the gauge and I was one of the lucky ones, others have received twice that in the past day or so!

@sam_cr @mimma_blue @callalilla @jenrobcarr - thank you Samantha, thank you Mimma, thank you Kimberley and thanks Jennifer #:0)=
March 7th, 2011
@lisjam1 @wahyusp - thanks Lisabell and Wahyu! This shot was taken at the local Barron Falls Train Station!
March 7th, 2011
@bobfoto LOL, I meant sandstorm. Must be monday morning or something. *shakes her head*
March 7th, 2011
@elephantgirl - oh ok, yeah a sandstorm would look more like this colour... still a brown scary snowstorm, might be more known as a sh*tstorm eh?
March 7th, 2011
Wow! amazing capture!
March 7th, 2011
@bremi - thank you Karoline :)
March 7th, 2011
Definitely shows angry very well!
March 7th, 2011
Wow, at first I wondered what crazy weather you were having now, (that as a sky!?) ..whew, just a waterfall...what a sheer force of power.
March 7th, 2011
JD- wicked man.
March 7th, 2011
Wow!
March 7th, 2011
I looked at both shots. Although both show the power of the water, I like this shot the best. I feel like stepping back to avoid getting into the churning water and standing still to witness the awesome power of the water at the same time. What a powerful picture!
March 7th, 2011
This is AMAZING!! Great photo!
March 7th, 2011
wow ! awesome !
March 7th, 2011
That is an incredable shot. Awesome photo!!
March 7th, 2011
Your telephoto got right into the falls, with a beautiful and raging effect.
March 7th, 2011
Absolutely amazing!
March 7th, 2011
Love this one! Nice capture!
March 7th, 2011
Wow, what an extraordinary shot! This is so powerful!
March 7th, 2011
Crazy!! amazing shot!
March 7th, 2011
@lislee75 - Thank you Lislee :)

@myla @debmayne - sorry to deceive re: the naming it the sky but our clouds have been angry of late and this just seems to sum up the amount of water that fell yesterday!

@akyoung - Thanks!

@daisy - now when I look at the second shot, I think how tame (really?) it is. I only took one shot at this focal length, the rest were all "entire" waterfall shots.... I'm glad I got this one.

@memphis @flamez - thank you thank you!

@lmasinton - "incredable"? That would be your accent slipping in again eh? Thank you ;)

@annamaker - I put the telephoto away to tell the truth. This was just my humble kit lens but at 42mm. It is a neat little very light weight lens which has travelled with me for thousands of kilometres across some pretty rugged terrain. I think it does have a dot on the lens which I cannot seem to move, but hey, you only see if i shoot f22...

@lauralee94 @cjwhite @exposure4u - Thank you Laura, Carolyn and Wendy :D
March 7th, 2011

Wow!! You can really feel the power of nature in this shot. Thanks for stopping long enough to take this shot and sharing it with us.
March 7th, 2011
@tanagerjohn - no worries John, I needed 5 minutes to stretch the legs again... it took me 3 hours to drive the first 12 miles this morning, then 8 hours to cover the next 375miles...
March 7th, 2011
March 7th, 2011
@lmasinton - LOL! heh heh hee...
March 7th, 2011
Wow!

March 8th, 2011
There has certainly been some awesome amounts of rain falling over the last couple of days. I could imagine the roar of the falls nearly being deafening. Very intense shot.
March 8th, 2011
For having never seen Barron Falls before, I definitely appreciated the Flickr shot. This one here has so much power in such a small area. Love them both, but overall I gotta say I like the Flickr one. You are awesome!

March 8th, 2011
Wow Jason, What can I say that hasten already been said, I think this is the longest list of comments I have ever seen on one shot. And rightly so. you have an amazing shot here worth commenting on. So I'll just leave it with a simple ...Well Done!

@lacedxxoo - Thank you Lacy and thanks for the fave #:0)

@harley84 - and thank you Katherine for the kind words and the fave :)

@tanagerjohn - the first 3 hours was a test of patience and clutch control. The last 8 hours were an adrenalin buzz, racing the weather and avoiding to many river crossings!

@craigdtull - Thank you Mr Tull!!!

@rbobh69 - don't be scared Bob, all this water just goes out to sea....

@girlie - Robin, I knew they were rocking on the drive up there, and after the huge downpour on Sunday night, I just knew Monday was going to be explosive up there! You should have seen the Barron River at the start of Kuranda!

@httpgeffed - thanks Colleen!

@rach_who - It reminded me of hanging out under a Volcano in PNG.

@aj1268 - Thanks Paula, I do like the overall shot, but love the detail in this!

@snowangel - Thanks Mae :)

@molizard - Cheers Molizard!

@swilde - It sure was Sue, I don't know how much soil was going out to sea, but it sure made for a muddy spectacle!

@glendq - Thank you Glendq, thanks. :)
March 8th, 2011

March 8th, 2011
Fantastic! I thought it was a volcano too! Just so amazing. (Love the full version of the pic too, but the cropping here makes it so dynamic).
March 8th, 2011
@jodogz - thank you Jodie :)

@alia_801 - no cropping just one taken at 14mm and the other at 42mm focal length...
March 8th, 2011

June 10th, 2012
@filsie65 - Thank you Phil, are you hitting the Flashback button or something?
June 10th, 2012
@bobfoto Yes - I only cottoned onto your project after the infamous 'please view my frogmato' posting! This morning was quiet, the kids away with their Dad, a hot cuppa to hand and the cat on my lap... after reading your post today I remembered your invitation and hit the flashback. Very enjoyable few minutes indulgence! :)
June 10th, 2012
@filsie65 - thank you.
June 10th, 2012
@bobfoto Pleasure all mine :)
June 10th, 2012
