Mr Blobby by bobfoto

Mr Blobby

ok, I had a great day with the camera, gorgeous butterflies, rooting cuckoos, loving ducks, and even a cool grasshopper just before Julia the Chook got stuck in. All worthy 365 shots.

I even spent some time with my camera on a freakin' tripod (only the second time this year) and I tried to make a splash. It all felt like everything was arse-paper until I added a touch of contrast and saturation to this Mr Blobby. So again, in order to kickstart Miss Blue's 365 project, here is another take on the sweet Debbie Hartley watersplash. And no Swamphen's were harmed in this photograph.

September 3rd, 2011
Rooting cuckoos......and you put this one up instead...you'd get shit loads of hits on the rooting cuckoos...lolol....I do like this pic especially the background and colour, real nice:)
September 3rd, 2011
@veekay - was wondering who was gonna comment first on the rooting cuckoos... I figure seeing as I have had a few avian shots in the past few days and the drip drop was kinda coolish, then the rooters could have their peace????
September 3rd, 2011
@bobfoto maybe they don't know what a 'rooting cuckoo' is...we're aussies...we know all about rooting:)
September 3rd, 2011
@veekay - Strewth! You're flamin' right, nice one sheila and chuck another prawn of the barbie... Crikey!

September 3rd, 2011
@roobubba - that would be my Passionfruit vine!
September 3rd, 2011
Wow great shot
September 3rd, 2011
Great splash and colour! What is bokeh? Second time I have seen bokek today.
September 3rd, 2011
@clarefigo - Thank you Clare :)
September 3rd, 2011
@moirab - Bokeh is confusing Moira. It is a traditional japanese photography thing where due to light diffusing on lenses set to super low f-stops, it causes round blurry circles (sorry for the tautology) of light and colour. Kinda like the circles of green and blue in this shot.

In other occasions, bokeh is simply a blurred background.

Awesome - one of these days I will buy a tripod and attempt this....no, maybe I won't, too hard! Great blob!! Instead to hope to take the pink dualie for a burn tomorrow and may even take a happy snap en route!
September 3rd, 2011

September 3rd, 2011
Awesome blob! Lovin' those colours!
September 3rd, 2011
the more I look at it the more it reminds me of the alien water probe in the movie "The Abyss"
September 3rd, 2011
@bobfoto Thank you so much for explaining that. Complicated but good to know I was hoping it wasn't something really obvious. Just started my second year so want to challenge myself a bit more and get off automatic maybe one day soon I will be doing bokeh too :oD
September 3rd, 2011

September 3rd, 2011
@cocorose @judithdeacon @httpgeffed - thank you Coco, Judith and Colleen.

@lbmcshutter - back when James Cameron made cool movies eh?

@moirab - don't just accept a blurry background as bokeh, it is all about that refraction of light from that background that causes the cool cirles. Try using your aperture mode, for starters.

@alia_801 - you know frogs aren't far away.

@robinwarner @webfoot @scatcat - the bokeh background was caused by me shooting outside in a shady area, but the full sun was on my passionfruit vine in the background.

@lmasinton - any chicken sized waterfowl would do... a large Crake or a small goose would suffice.

@tpitcox @marinda @maggie2 - thank you Tina, thank you Marinda and thank you Margaret :)

@catsmeowb - I don't do a lot of post-production, but I do like to tweak the sharpness, the contrast and the saturation to suit. Simple stuff that any photo viewer can achieve.

@orangecrush @stinkypete - thanks guys!

@michelleyoung - And thank you Ms Young.
September 3rd, 2011
@hagscat - thanks Carin. just knowing you popped by to take a look is sweet enough! Thank you.
