Cool. Like a wasps nest??
posted November 4th, 2011
@corymbia - pop pop pop!

@moirab - no the little bugs came out of the eggs.... not wasps.

help @robv - this is the smallest bug I have ever taken a photo of!

@bobfoto But is the white stuff part of an old wasps nest? Wear the eggs in the little circles? In the bubble wrap? Recycling? Or is it the buggies very own bubble wrap/ nest/ egg protector? Very cute buggies.

@bobfoto I take it you were there for the birth

interesting nests? ... is that man made?
posted November 4th, 2011
Super nests but I suspect you have just aided and abetted the noxious pest beetle, grub, bug thingy in taking over the planet.

"mite" comes to mind when I see this. Super macro!

Oooohh.... well that is one interesting shot!

They are Hemipteran eggs, something in the same superfamily as Stink bugs/Shield bugs is my best guess. Great macro of them and the little stragglers still hanging out.

What happened was, I saw the eggs on the underside of a leaf and I didn't have my camera... so I put the leaf into an old jar. Later when I got my camera and opened up the jar - well the eggs had hatched, so I placed the leaf onto my desk and set up my camera while with tweezers, I collected the little guys and placed them onto the egg casing. Then I tried to get a shot away before they ran off.

And thank you Rob, I suspected them to be some kind of shield bug, I have a green variety in the garden which are very popular.

@moirab - sadly I missed out Moira...

@buggus - that must have been why they were whispering...

@gavincci - nope, bug made.

@swilde @voodoochild - not really, they were in my broccoli patch before today and this shot was taken in the same garden... despite being a pest, if you have a good balance of good bugs vs bad bugs then everyone can live together.

@espyetta - they were mighty mites then!

@Cherrill - Thank you Cherrill, this is the smallest bug that I have tried to photograph, I'm glad you can see his little eye and little legs!

@hollandcrew @sangwann @canberrabec - Thanks Al, thanks Dione and cheers Bec. :)

@catsmeowb @lbmcshutter @emmar84 @elke @lorihiro - Oh thank you thank you thank you ladies. And yes Ms Lorihiro, these were the tiniest of them all!

@kimmistephens @zferrie @luvthyclassics @houdiniem - hee hee - thank you Kimmi, thank you Zoe, thank you Jesse and thank you Emily. - eeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEeeeeeee :D

@steeler - Cheers Howard!

@httpgeffed - and thank you Colleen G.

They look like reversed lady bugs!
posted November 5th, 2011
I count 7 legs, which means there's probably one more hiding somewhere. Arachnid. Looks like some kind of mite or possibly a kind of tick?
posted November 5th, 2011
@buttercup - they do sorta, but baby ladybirds look very different to this!

@webfoot - Paul, I count 5 legs and 2 long feeler kinda things up front. If you enlarge the shot, you will see feet on five of the legs but those middle two look to be ever so slightly different. I could be wrong though!
