Wanpela moa piksa bilong Popondetta Sing-sing

Ok, final shot of this Sing-sing group from Popondetta, Oro Province. This shot was taken while the action continued, yet the matriarch on the right noticed something amiss with the headdress of her male companion. She stopped ever so briefly to make the adjustment. I took the photo.

I love the focus, the sweat, the mass of action, the brief moment in time. This was such a different approach to a Sing-sing for me, and I daresay I could have filled a whole month with the photographs from this one group.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments over the past day or so... I have nearly caught up.

Photo taken 26 July 2008. Title reads: One more Photo from the Popondetta Sing-sing Group.
Great candid shot. She does look very focused and sweaty

Focus on focus. Such a rich harvest of memorable images. How do you keep from getting lost in your memories reviewing these? I could see hours slipping by while thought trains get derailed, struggling to get back on track. Cheers!

I had gotten behind and missed this mini series. I love the way they start big and get specific. I get more of the feel of action from them

@robv - the monthly review is hard work. This month of July is a little haphazard mainly due in part to being back in PNG and on foreign PCs and with limited time. So I kinda just chucked things together. When I am at home with more time on my hands, the monthly review and cull can take days... even a week. I have to keep an eye on the date so that I know when to start heading back through the month that was. September and November (from memory) are truly going to be monumentally hard to cull down to only 30 photos. I already have the stories of those months bouncing around my head... it may take 6 weeks for each of those months to tell the full story.

@tigerdreamer - Thanks Karen, I'm glad you got the entire picture, today's shot is the epilogue so to speak.

@buggus - Oh thank you Oleta, I too agree the "from the hip" kinda shots are the better ones!

Just love the look you've captured here Jason - her care is so evident amongst all that colour and action (and dynamite). Wonderful

@filsie65 - I can't believe how calm the guy on the left is, what with all that dynamite so close to his ear!

@bobfoto Guess that's one way to make him stand still.... must try it on the kids...! :)

@filsie65 - might find yourself heading towards an early retirement if you try that at the school.... just sayin'

@bobfoto YESS!! What a plan - win/win!! Considering the motley crew I said farewell to yesterday and their influence on the multitude I will be facing in September I might just get some of those sticks in my back pocket....!! Well the boss doesn't like us to hand out stickers and we can't hand out sweeties....

@filsie65 - I'll keep an eye on the Tabloids...

There really seems to be a tenderness to her. Dynamite or not.

@hellcat - I think it was really too hot and humid to be handling Dyno-mite!
posted August 30th, 2012
not that I know anything about dynamite, but wouldn't humid cancel out the hot part and keep it too moist to ignite?
posted August 30th, 2012
@hellcat - not sure...
