Kikori Chief by bobfoto

Kikori Chief

Just off the coast of Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea is a small sandy island with a handful of coconut trees and a few locals living there. It is called Fishos which is short for Fisherman's Island and at Christmas time, all the boaties who use the island throughout the year, sail out there and put on a Christmas show for all the boaties and all the locals on the island. It is a great day out and well worth getting yourself on a sailing vessel and heading out for a day of beer, food and Santa Claus.

Here is a shot of the RPYC's barge, the Kikori Chief.

Your aperture is only 6.3 and you have got such wide DOF! Thats what makes this such a good picture! I think I am learning then I find I'm not!

@maggiemae - taken with my underwater point and shoot, so yeah, the DOF always looks like I have taken the shot with a big f-stop.

@gerry - Always glad to share some warm sunshine with my UK friends!

@ozziehoffy - then you must post at lunchtime?

@markjohnstone - not long enough a journey... you'll survive!

Love those churned up waves... the red and white besides them feel very festive. (Wonder if that's just word association..) Smashing shot anyway!

@filsie65 - I think red is the key. Just look at the profile pics just here, and Katia's red t-shirt and hat portrays a very Festive image.
