Kids at Ower's Corner by bobfoto

Kids at Ower's Corner

Hopefully I haven't posted this one already? I've looked but can't find or recall. These kids had walked 96kms up and down mountains because Mum said we're going to town.

And I see the local airlines have cancelled the regular flight to their home of Kokoda.

Photo taken 13 July 2013 at Ower's Corner, Kokoda Track.
This is a powerful photo. Their body language says it all. It just jumped off the screen at me. THEN I read your description. Whoa.
Amazing.

Doing it in bare feet must have been tough.

They do look weary! I'll bet they slept well that night! Great capture!

I hope they were safe there - expect the family would be watching out for them! This is a great photo of them both!

They look a bit unsure of themselves and tired. Amazing kids to walk so far.

I like the expression on her face...thier feet must be tough and their legs strong...kids in NA would never survive!

This is an amazing capture! The image itself says a lot, and reading your post let me without words. Their bare feet walking through the mountains are so impresive!
March 26th, 2014
@lynnb @lorenaavalos - Its all about walking, simply left foot after right and so on...
March 27th, 2014
96km??? WOW!! That´s so impressive, and sad at the other side... but maybe we just aren´t used to walk that much anymore.. and maybe that´s the saddest thing about it..

Tough little cookies.

@agentzuckerguss - you might be right Katia!

@kjarn - hell yeah!

Glory be, and my kids objected to walking to school some days........
March 31st, 2014
@filsie65 - oh yeah and the kids here are fiercely independent. They shame a lot of western children.
