Susanne & Anna

These ladies fleeced some money from me. So I made sure I got a photo or two and at least a smile. A cyclone came and blew their little shelter away. They were not happy about it, I mumbled something about karma. They fleeced some more money and I asked them to smile.

Photo taken 9 December 2007 at Rouna Falls on the way up to Sogeri on the Snake Road, Central Province.
Your little story made me laugh a bit.. is that also bad karma? ;)

@agentzuckerguss - I think it might be....

I like their expressions. I like to think they spent your money cake.

@snackmaster - more than likely on betelnut.

Is it legal?
June 9th, 2014
@snackmaster - it was back then, and it still is. You're just not meant to sell it on the streets and chew it in public. On the spot fine normally includes a smack around the legs and head with a long stick or a fan belt taped up.

Those smiles definitely say they are proud of fleecing some money from you….… twice!!

@chris17 - they got my money that's why...

and you let them fleece you?!? unbelievable. didn't you give them the "jason glare"? :-) is this an expensive photo then?
June 11th, 2014
Did they get your money for taking the photo, or did you buy something from them? Great photo of some lovely smiles.

@summerfield @nataliemac - Nat, these are the supposed 'land-owners' up at the Rouna Waterfall on the way to Sogeri where funnily enough, anyone who happens to walk past the carpark near the look-out whenever an ex-pat stops becomes a land-owner and invokes the "customary land-tax" cost of visiting the look-out in order to see the waterfall. Photos of smiling women are free. A photo of the waterfall is gonna cost ya K10.
