the Victorious Aussie Cricket Team at Boera

Sing when you're winning and these boys were loving the cheers and attention from the small vocal crowd who gathered to watch this "Australian" side from Boera whom beat the "Indian" side in the semi-final and will now go on and face "Pakistan" next Saturday.

Meanwhile back in Australia, we now incorporate rules into youth sports so that no-one loses and well, no-one wins. Every game does not have runs or points or scores and everyone can feel great for just doing something pointless. At least it stops the feral parents from abusing every-one and everything for no point at all except for the fact they're getting fatter from vicariously living their lack of sportiness through their children.

But, back in Papua New Guinea, we had a team of winners and the other team who will try a little harder next season.

Photo taken yesterday out at Boera.
The smiles on their faces says it all.

I love this. They look to be a close knit team with great spirit, caught in a moment of triumph!

@aurorajane @jbd1962 - the celebrations after each wicket fell was impressive. They really knew how to feed off the achievement!

Hooray for the winners and for the people who've decided that one team can win and one team can loose. That idea that everyone should win from playing the game and no one should loose has found its way into some of the intermural sports stateside too. Such stupidity! I love the joy in their faces- and the one who's saluting!

@blueberry1222 - to both team's credit, the game was played fairly and the better team simply had the runs on the board, so no-one was upset. great spirit!

@olivetreeann - he's great, and I like how they got the opportunity to enjoy it.

@swilde - It was fantastic when these lads would do the "Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi" chant after each wicket fell!

@houdiniem - he may think so?

I totally support and admire the concept of "no winners and no losers; just good fun and healthy exercise". I am not competitive in that sense and just want to feel sure that I have done my best without making anyone else feel inferior, but was bullied at school for this attitude. I have always seen competitive sport as a recipe for trouble but I love the happy faces you have captured on youngsters with a healthier attitude and no outrageous demonstration of triumphalism.

@wordpixman - I know what you are saying, but I am happy for the fact that once or thrice I lost.

Great bunch of kids, I like how their trousers are either too short or too long.
