How to Stop a Train

66 / 365
I saw these instructions at the Colorado Railroad Museum instructing the train conductor how to stop the train. It was located up in the cupola of the caboose. I thought he would know how to do this. You would think it would be intuitive to keep increasing the handle until the train stops!

Fascinating! - I would think with a full brake application he would have to hang on tight!

Nice shot and a very detailed instruction to stop the train! It certainly differs of nowadays instructions for such actions.

@anden Anatoly, today they don't even use a caboose on trains. The engineer does all the stopping.

Okay, that's a lot of confusing reading in an emergency! And yes, hopefully they came pre-trained on how to STOP it! :)
